Jody Barton, artist, musician and all-round troublemaker, hails from the damp and moldy dis-United Kingdom. One of the UK’s most prolific and diverse graphic artists, he studied in London at Camberwell and the RCA before moving to a freezing cold cabin in the woods to spend 5 years drinking English wine out of a shoe. He then accidentally moved to Denmark. He has worked as a commercial illustrator for some of the world’s most evil brands, and some of the most right-on ones, made newspaper illustrations for the Guardian, New York Times and Zeit and run an obscenely successful T-shirt company in Japan. His work stacks basic and combative images with modernist koans to create funny and affecting works that manage to be both oddly humorous and pessimistic.
